Posted

The Aledo Ladycats split their record this week as they entered district play hosting Wichita Falls Rider last Friday before hitting the road to take on the Northwest Lady Texans in Justin on Tuesday.

Aledo’s varsity netters swept Rider by a score of 25-14 in all three matches. Tuesday’s road trip did not go as the Ladycats had hoped. The matches were competitive throughout as Northwest swept by scores of 25-14, 25-23, and 25-16, respectively.

The Ladycats currently sit at third in the 5A Region/District 5 standings after falling to 1-1 in district play on Tuesday night. They boast a 19-14 overall record thus far into the 2022 season.

Senior outside hitter Alyssa Gonzales led the Ladycats in kills (8) and aces (1) against the hosting Lady Texans. Mia Little, Aledo’s resident libero, led the defensive effort with 16 digs on the night. Junior setter Rylee Metts got everybody involved offensively as she recorded 19 assists.

Aledo sophomore outside hitter, Lauryn Mack, recorded the best all-around performance of the night for the Ladycats. Mack finished the night with a dozen digs, six kills, a block assist, and an ace to her credit.

Several Ladycats hit the statistical jackpot defending their home court against Rider. Metts recorded a staggering 24 assists across the three matches. Gonzales mustered 14 digs on the night. Little added another 10 digs of her own to Aledo’s defensive tally.

Junior outside hitter Vivian Parker led the offensive effort with 15 kills. Meanwhile, senior middle hitter Maddie Frank combined for 10 kills of her own while contributing to the defensive effort with five block assists. Mack doubled down statistically, as well, with 10 digs and a pair of block assists of her own.

The Ladycats will be in action again this Friday when they travel to Saginaw to resume district play against the hosting Lady Rough Riders. Varsity matches are scheduled begin promptly at 5 p.m.
