Bearcats take 2-3 overall record into bye week

Team is 1-1 in District 3-6A play

Posted

Aledo’s 2026 football campaign so far hasn’t started as many envisioned. Following a move up to Class 6A and all kinds of roster turnover, the Bearcats have started 2-3 overall and 1-1 in district play.

The Bearcats’ wins have come over Euless Trinity and Granbury, while their losses have come to North Crowley, Waco Midway, and Arlington Martin.

Week 1

The first week of the year saw a highly anticipated clash for Aledo, where they traveled to Crowley ISD Stadium to take on the powerhouse North Crowley Panthers. Aledo lost 26-0, its shutout since Dec. 6, 2003.

Week 2

Week 2’s game against the Waco Midway Panthers was another loss for Aledo. The Bearcats dropped a back-and-forth matchup to the Panthers 28-21. After going down 14-0 early and trailing 21-14 at the half, the Bearcats tied the game in the third quarter with an Izzy Roberts rushing touchdown. A late touchdown by Panthers running back Lathan Whisenton in the fourth quarter put Waco Midway in the lead for good. With the loss, Aledo fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2022.

Week 3

Aledo rebounded the following week to notch its first win of 2026, 31-7 against Euless Trinity. Quarterback Tre Williams finished with 220 yards passing and two touchdowns, both touchdowns being to wide receiver Kane Lanier who finished with eight receptions and 122 yards. Defensively, pass rushers Cole Cox and Max Forman finished with a combined 19 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, and a sack.

Week 4

Aledo won its first district game of 2026 by beating Granbury on the road, 69-0. The Bearcats scored 56 points in the first half en route to the win. Three touchdowns on the ground from running backs Wyatt Dorsey and Izzy Roberts, four passing touchdowns from Tre Williams, and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown by defensive lineman Tymon Meeks made the early difference.

Week 5

Aledo’s Week 5 matchup with Arlington Martin saw not only a 35-21 loss, but a historic district win streak come to an end. Prior to Week 5, Aledo boasted a 136-game win streak in district play dating back to Oct. 5, 2007. The loss to the Warriors snapped that streak and dropped the Bearcats’ overall record to 2-3 on the season. Aledo took a 21-10 lead into halftime following contributions on both sides of the ball, but surrendered 22 unanswered points in the second half.
