The Trinity Christian Academy Lady Eagles volleyball team had a tough first match of the season Aug. 11 at home.

Southwest Christian School beat TCA in straight sets 3-0.

Trinity Christian Academy is coming into the season with some new faces and a new coach in Dora Sigala.

The first set was competitive until about halfway through when SCS pulled away to win the set 25-16.

The second set proved to be the most competitive of the night. It went to extra points, but in the end SCS came away with the win 28-26 to go up 2-0.

After coming so close to winning the second set and not doing it, TCA never really got into the swing of things in the third. SCS won the set 25-11 and won the match 3-0.

Kami James led Trinity with eight kills and three blocks. Paisley James was second with six kills and Taylor Gilliam had two blocks.

Coach Sigala said she thought there were encouraging moments and signs of potential from this team along with the great support from the home crowd despite the loss.

“This match was a great way to start the season at home and it showed that we have a lot to look forward to,” Sigala said. “With continued hard work, communication, and growth this season is looking very promising.”

TCA is next scheduled to play at 5 p.m. Aug. 14 at Benbrook . Next week the Lady Eagles are scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Lake Country.
