North Oakridge Drive to expand

Project gets $14 million expansion

Posted

Residents gathered at Hudson Oaks City Hall on Jan. 27 for a sneak peek at a $14 million improvement planned for North Oakridge Drive and look over charts and details while questioning engineers and city officials.

"It looks good. What is the downside?" a resident asked City Administrator Sterling Naron standing behind the 10-foot-long map. "Well, there is going to be construction," Naron responded.

To ease construction congestion, the three cement lanes with a turn lane will be done in three phases, with the last in front of Mary Martin Elementary being finished during summer vacation. The project is targeted to start in June and finish late summer 2026.

Phase One will start at Walgreens and go north to Garner Road. Phase Two will go past Red Eagle Trail/Suzanne Trail, where there will be a traffic circle roundabout.  Phase Three will go to Mary Martin Elementary near the corner of Silverstone Drive.

When finished, the road improvement will ease traffic to and from Mary Martin and encourage development along North Oakridge.
