The Weatherford Kangaroo golf team competed Friday-Saturday, Oct. 16-17, at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury in windy conditions.

The Roos finished 10th overall, improving by 12 strokes from the first day to the second day for a two-day total of 660.

Carter Bruton had the best two-day total with 156, improving by 12 shots himself from 84-72. Madden Ward was a bit more consistent while shooting 77-80 for a 157.

Judson Spikes shot 167 total and improved by nine shots from Round 1 to Round 2, shooting 88-79. Rawley Capps carded a 181, with rounds of 88-93. Logan Henn shot 184 with an 87-97.

Weatherford coach Brandon Nicewonger said he thought the tournament was a good test for his guys.

“Strong winds on Friday definitely made scoring difficult, especially on a challenging course like Harbor Lakes,” Nicewonger said. “We struggled at times with managing those conditions and limiting mistakes. I was pleased with how our guys responded on Saturday, improving our team score by 12 strokes and moving from 12th to 10th in the standings. We still have areas where we need to improve, particularly with course management and consistency. It’s a good learning experience for our group as we continue preparing for the bigger picture ahead.”

The Weatherford boys team’s next tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Iron Horse Golf Course in North Richland Hills. The girls team, whose tournament was canceled due to weather concerns, is scheduled to play Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 2-3, at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Fort Worth.
