City of Aledo Opens Doors to New Municipal Complex

Posted

Jan. 10 marked an important day for the city of Aledo. The grand opening of the new Aledo Municipal Complex marks a significant milestone for the city’s future success.

The event is one worth remembering with words from Mayor Shane Davis, an invocation from Dr. Ted Kitchens of Christ Chapel Bible Church, the presentation of colors thanks to the Parker County ESD 1 Honor Guard, the pledge of allegiance from Chief of Police Carol L. Riddle, national anthem by The Singing Sisters, welcoming of the new Aledo City Manager Candice Edmonson, and a ribbon cutting to commemorate the city’s accomplishment.

The people were then welcomed inside the complex to explore the new facilities and meet the individuals who helped bring it to life. Alongside refreshments and scavenger hunt-style exploring, live music by Jolie and Sonny Burgess filled the air, creating an immersive experience.

The construction of the complex began in early June of 2024 and was made possible thanks to a joint effort of the “city council’s, past and present staff, past and present architects, Randall Scott and associates, to the construction team, Steele & Freeman, and to the professionals who made this vision a reality,” said Aledo Mayor Shane Davis. “This building was designed with intention, with care and respect for the public. It serves this world-class civic architecture, not built for spectacle, but for purpose. Every line, every space, every material, choosing to endure.”

The new building will create a core location that brings together city administration, utility billing, city council chambers, the Aledo Public Library, and the police department. This combination provides a space for efficiency and gathering in the community.

“These walls are built of stone and steel,” Davis said. “The true strength of Aledo has always been its people, and with confidence in the days ahead, and with gratitude of those who made it possible. I hereby dedicate to the citizens of Aledo to serve as a place of open government and trust for generations to come.”

“This building belongs to you,” Davis said as he reaffirmed the promise that the complex “stands as a symbol of a simple belief that government serves best when it serves people first.”

On Jan. 10 the new Aledo Municipal Complex celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting and open house. Residents, city staff, and project partners joined together to celebrate a communal milestone and witness the complex that now brings together key city services.
