The Bearcat Regiment is working hard as it prepares for its first 6A season.
“We're competing in the 6A realm, and we need to change. We need to transform. We need to be stronger and more at that elite 6A level. The halftime show embodies just that, “change, transformation, and growth,” Dexx Moore, assistant band director, said.
The band's show is titled “The Other Side of Here.” Throughout the performance, there will be special elements, including lookalike costumes, costume changes, and portals that make the appearance of teleportation across the field. Moore said the change and transformation throughout the show is fitting the change and growth the band is stepping up to for the first Class 6A season.
The musical selections for the routine consist of: “Cloud Folk," by John Psathas; “Distance of Sounds, Sinfonietta No. 3,” by Hirokazu Fukushima; “Agape,” by Nicholas Britell; “Giza, 1928,” by David Arnold; “Geist,” by Russell Wharton; and “Crystal,” by Simon Dobson.
Drum majors play a big role in the band. This 2026-27 season, Brayden DeBoer, Kylie Kirkland, Harper Jones, and Ruby Shaver are stepping into those roles, leading on the field and conducting music through the show routine.
The band’s main goal this year is to make it to the state marching contest in November, Moore said. The members are working hard to meet those higher district standards and displaying that through the show because “no one's gonna let that seat go easy,” he said.
