The City of Willow Park announced that Roger E. Yount Jr. has been selected to become the City’s next Chief of Police, bringing 28 years of law enforcement experience and a career built on front-line service, specialized operations, and progressive leadership.
Yount began his law enforcement career in 1998 with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office before joining the White Settlement Police Department in 2000. He advanced through the ranks, serving as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant and lieutenant before becoming Assistant Chief of Police in 2023.
His experience includes serving as a SWAT operator and hostage negotiator, along with leadership in patrol operations, investigations, personnel development, and departmental administration. As Assistant Chief, he helped White Settlement maintain its fourth consecutive Texas Police Chiefs Association re-accreditation, achieved in June 2025.
Yount holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and a Master of Criminal Justice degree from Tarleton State University. He has also completed advanced leadership programs through the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas and the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration.
“I am deeply honored and truly excited to serve as the Chief of Police for Willow Park. As our city continues its remarkable growth, expanding with new neighborhoods, businesses, and opportunities, I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team, community, and regional partners to keep Willow Park safe, strong, and thriving for everyone who calls it home,” Yount said.
“We are excited for his experience and enthusiasm to lead our police department and look forward to a successful future together,” City Manager Fisher said.
Yount’s first day with the City of Willow Park will be Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
