Welcome back!

Hoping Bearcat experience is the best

Posted

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year, Bearcats! Even after a couple of decades working in public schools, I still get butterflies in my stomach on the first day of school. Not really because I’m nervous but because I always have feelings of excitement and hope.

This year, my hope is that your Bearcat experience is exceptional. We talk about exceptional experiences for ALL of our students often. But I don’t just want you to have an exceptional experience; I want you to have an exceptional Bearcat experience, which I really believe means a little more.

Last year alone, it meant:

  • Academic Excellence with the College Board AP Honor Roll recognition for the third-straight year
  • Athletic Excellence as the inaugural Texas High School Athletic Directors Association Class 5A Texas Cup winner
  • Career & Technical Education Excellence with our second-straight Career & Technical Association of Texas District of Distinction designation
  • All-Around Excellence with a top two Class 5A finish for the third-straight year in the UIL Lone Star Cup
  • And Teaching Excellence after being named one of only eight Solution Tree Model PLC at Work districts in Texas.

That kind of excellence starts with elementary teachers who build a strong foundation of learning, middle school staff who nourish and grow students’ passions, and high school teachers and staff who reinforce that all of our Bearcats are capable of excellence in whatever they love - be it fine arts, academics, athletics, career and technical education, or a combination of all! In Aledo ISD, we have all types of caring Bearcat staff who rally around our students…from bus drivers, intervention counselors and early literacy specialists to speech therapists, occupational specialists, police officers, instructional technology specialists, and so much more!

Whether your Bearcat Experience is just beginning or nearing its end, I hope you’ll take full advantage of the amazing teachers and staff, dedicated administrators, and supportive community we are blessed to have and to live in. I know that MY Bearcat Experience has been one of community, pride, hard work, love, support, growing greatness and being ALL IN!

Here’s to the very best 2026-2027 school year, Bearcats!

Dr. Susan Bohn has been the proud superintendent in Aledo ISD since 2018. She has two Bearcat sons, one who is a new AHS alum and one who is a middle schooler. She would love to hear about your exceptional Bearcat experiences at sbohn@aledoisd.org.
