Cross Country

Roos run in Coach T Marcus Invite

The Weatherford Kangaroo cross country teams competed in the Coach T Marcus Invitational at North Lakes Park.

The Lady Roos team finished 10th out of 38 teams while the boys team finished 34th out of 48 teams.

Remi Boone led the Weatherford girls team, finishing 12th overall with a time of 18 minutes, 8 seconds over the 5,000-meter course. The Lady Roos top five runners also included Ivy Scott (70th), Nayelli Ordonez (85th), Aaliyah Dixon (102nd) and Charlotte Farhat (120th).

Aiden Houghton was the first runner for the Weatherford boys team, finishing 90th with a time of 16:30. The first four Roos to finish for the team included James Roe (178th), Zavier Ascuro (188th), Jack Miller (201st) and Saul Saldivar (255th).

Coach Van Green thought his girls team ran decent, especially with four girls being freshmen. The expectation is for the team to grow with every meet they run.

The boys team was missing several runners and will continue to miss them in the short term. Green does not expect to have his full team available until the district meet.

Weatherford is next scheduled to run on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Fort Worth Boswell.
