Varsity teams take home wins versus Granbury

Aledo’s soccer teams hit the road bound for Granbury on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The Ladycats pitched their second shutout of the season as they plundered the Lady Pirates, 3-0. Meanwhile, the Bearcats outdueled the Pirates, winning a shootout 4-3.

The Ladycats (11-4-2 overall, 5-1 in District 5-5A) scored all three of their points in the first half of action as Presley Clayborn, Sydney Mcguire, and Georgia Zirbser each found the back of the net in the contest. Jourdan Hart picked up a pair of assists in the game. Reagan Krajca earned an assist of her own in the match.

On the other end of the pitch, Ladycat goalkeeper Jamie Smith earned her second clean sheet of the season stopping all five Lady Pirate shots on her goal.

The Bearcats improved to 9-3-4 overall on the season and 3-2 in District 5-5A action with their shootout victory over Granbury.

Clay Murador scored the lone goal for the Bearcats in regulation with an assist by Robby Sloan. With Granbury also getting on the board with a goal in regulation, the two squads headed to a shootout with the game tied at a goal apiece.

Austin Randriamahefa, Colt McCoy, Cole Crawford, and Cooper Trice all scored goals during the shootout for the Bearcats. Meanwhile, Aledo’s goalkeeper Zach Taylor made a pair of saves to hold off the Pirates and ensure victory for his club.

Both Aledo varsity soccer clubs will be in action again on Friday as they travel to Wichita Falls Rider to take on the Raiders on their home field.
