Trustees approve purchase process for 19 acres on Champions Drive

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to empower Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn to enter into a contract to purchase about 19.5 acres of land on Champions Drive at a special meeting on Monday, Nov. 28.

The land is on the west side of Champions Drive and stretches from Bailey Ranch Road to Buchanan Drive.

According to background information presented to the board, the school district made an offer on the property, stating “The District is currently seeking real property sites within the district to purchase for future school facilities.”

“The Administration has determined that it is in the best interest of the District to purchase the tract,” Bohn said at the special school board meeting.

The property is adjacent to the property that contains Aledo High School and the Don R. Daniel Ninth Grade Campus.

“Aledo ISD is working to purchase the Bailey Ranch 19.5-acre property to provide the district options as we plan for future growth,” Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn told The Community News. “Since it is contiguous to our current property and can be accessed via the marquee drive east of Daniel Ninth Grade Campus and also via Champions drive, it offers us flexibility for future facilities.”
