TOTS extending Shakespeare auditions

Theatre Off The Square in Weatherford has extended auditions for its 2024 Shakespeare In The Park production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, set for the spring. The additional auditions will take place at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 19-20, in the green room at TOTS on 114 N. Denton in Weatherford.

Those auditioning must be prepared to read from a cold script.

The show is Shakespeare's merry comedy of marriage, wealth, jealousy, and lies. Sir John Falstaff plans to hustle his way to comfortable retirement by seducing the wives of two wealthy men. But it’s the women of Windsor who pull the strings in this story.

The show will be directed by Hannah Bell. Performances are set for April 19 in the evening and April 20 with a matinee and evening performance. All will be at Chandor Gardens.

Roles available are:

• Sir John Falstaff: 40s-60s a charismatic drunk.
• Fenton: Young male presenting.
• Robert Shallow: any age male presenting.
• Slender: any age male presenting and unsuccessful suitor of Anne.
• Ford: middle age male presenting.
• Page: middle age male presenting.
• William Page: younger child.
• Sir Hugh: an older parson.
• Doctor Caius: any age doctor and unsuccessful suitor of Anne.
• Host of the Garter Inn: any age/gender.
• Bardolph: any age/gender.
• Pistol: any age/gender.
• Nym: any age/gender.
• Robin: a page, any age/gender.
• Simple: any age/gender.
• Rugby: any age/gender.
• Alice Ford: middle age, female presenting.
• Margaret Page: middle age, female presenting.
• Mistress Quickly: female presenting, older.
