19 from Aledo earn accolades

Posted

Intelligence and success often go hand-in-hand, or perhaps trophy-in-case.

Take, for example, the Aledo High School athletic program. Nineteen senior athletes were named academic all-state by the Texas High School Coaches Association.

To qualify for academic all-state, a player must be an athlete, student trainer or manager in good standing with the team, of good moral character, a senioir and have an overall grade-point average of 92 or above, including courses from grades 9-11 and courses completed from grade 12 (weighted GPAs accepted).

“This shows we have really intelligent athletes,” Aledo football coach Robby Jones said. “We can teach them to do a lot of different things.”

Honored from Aledo were:

Football - Nathan Hall, first team; Jackson Parker, first team; Davhon Keys, first team; Carter Campbell, first team; Logan DeFranzo, second team; Lexi Steffe (manager), second team; Alex Arana second team; Allie Graham (manager), honorable mention; Nathan Patridge, honorable mention; Brett Turner, honorable mention; Tyson Timms, honorable mention; Jayton "Boogie" Owens, honorable mention; Caden Atwood, honorable mention.

Team tennis - Scott Mason, second team; Ibrahim Choudhry, honorable mention.

Volleyball - Natalie Anderson, first team.

Cross country - Caden West, second team; Vincent Luffey, second team; Aubrey Connelly, honorable mention.
