Aledo improved to 12-2 overall and is 2-0 in District 5-5A.
The closest the visiting Hawks/Lady Hawks came to winning a match were three thrillers. Birdville managed to win just a single set on the humbling afternoon.
In boys doubles, Ben Kurth and Paxton Psencik dropped the opening set 4-6, before storming back to take the second 6-0 and winning the tie-breaker 10-6.
In boys singles, Tai Van and Casen Freeland won exciting matches by identical 9-7 scores. The singles matches were played in pro sets, with Aledo winning three by 8-0 scores.
The only other close set was an opening 7-6 win by Natalie Nawrocki in girls doubles, but they rebounded to win the second set easily, 6-1, for the sweep.
The Racquet Cats were back in district play as they were hosting Saginaw at press time. They will host Azle 4 p.m. on Sept. 16 before ending the regular season with visits to Keller Fossil Ridge on Sept. 23 and to Saginaw Chisholm Trail on Sept. 30.
In their first two district matches, Aledo has soundly defeated Brewer 18-1 and Granbury 17-2.
