The Racquet Cats improved to 4-0 and sit atop District 5-5A. They are 14-2 overall.
Aledo has now won 71 of 76 of the individual/doubles matches they have played against their four district foes.
Against Azle, the Racquet swept all 12 of their wins that were best-of-three sets. Six of the matches were played in pro sets, which is the first player to win eight games, and they won five of those — holding their opponent to two or less game wins in three of those.
The most dominant victory of the day was Casen Freeland winning his pro set match 8-0. In boys doubles, Ben Kurth and Paxton Psencik teamed for a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Kurth also had a 6-2, 6-0 win in boys singles.
Sydney Byrd and Lila Satterfield coasted to a 6-2, 6-0 win in girls doubles, and Satterfield had a 6-0, 6-2 win in girls singles.
The most exciting match of the day was in boys singles as Tai Van of Aledo and Kobie Torgeson of Azle fought for three sets. They split the first two, with Torgeson winning 7-5, Van rebounding to win 7-5, but Torgeson taking the tiebreaker 10-8.
In junior varsity action, Aledo defeated Azle 19-0 on Sept. 18.
The Racquet Cats varsity was playing at Keller Fossil Ridge at press time and ends the regular season on Sept. 30 at Saginaw Chisholm Trail in a 4 p.m. match. The bi-district playoffs begin Oct. 6.
