The Weatherford Wild swim team concluded its summer of 2025 competition with a solid showing at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas July 31 through Aug. 3 in Bryan/College Station.
Cullen Costello, competing in the Boys 13-14 age group, won a gold medal. He took first in the 100-yard individual medley, clocking a time of 1 minute, 2.76 seconds. He was also second in the 50 breast in 30.92 seconds.
Costello then joined with Max Gentry, Kody Burlison, and Bowen Judd to bring back two bronze relay medals. They placed third in the 200 freestyle relay, clocking a time of 1:47.28 and were third in the 200 medley relay, posting a 1:59.81.
Matt Williams (25-39), placed in the 50 breast (33.44) and 100 individual medley (1:08.80). Pacing the females was Katie Edwards in the 40-Over age group. She was third in the 50 Butterfly in 35.06 and third in the 50 Free in 30.68.
“The [swimmers] did really well at state. Almost everyone dropped time and competed in their events,” said Williams, who is also coach of the team. “Super proud of them and all of the newcomers we had make it to state this year.”
