Weatherford Christian boys accolades

Noah Carreon, academic all-state and second-team all-district.

GOLF

JV Lady Roos win again

The Weatherford JV Lady Roos continued their strong spring season with another first-place team finish recently at the Burleson Elks JV Tournament at Hidden Creek Golf Club. Every Lady Roo golfer finished inside the Top 10:

Addison Parks, tournament champions.

Leighton Holt and Ainsley Lange, tied for third.

Khloe Kuehler, sixth.

Samantha Simpson, ninth.

Also, the JV Boys competed at the Graham Steer Invitational recently and finished third overall against varsity competition. Mario Muniz and Judson Spikes each shot 83 to tie for third individually.

POWERLIFTING

Lady Roos sending six for state

The Weatherford Lady Roos qualified six competitors for the Girls State Powerlifting Meet Mar. 20 in Edinburg. Qualifying were Anissa Dearman, Caroline Couch, Selah Galindo, Kylie Baruch, Analia Barcenas (regional champion), and Sophie McCloskey.

Kangaroos qualify 15 for regionals

Fifteen members of the Weatherford Kangaroos have qualified for regional competition. They are Rylan Todd, James Kizewic, Brody Schabow, Christian Andrews, Jonathan Griggs, Clayton Fontenot, Xavier Olivares, Ryan Ekberg, Malachi Fuller, Aaron St. Don, Preston Clark, Maverick Neal, Talan Tart, Palmer Holmes, and Brenton Linehan.

They are seeking a spot in the state meet Mar. 27-28 in Abilene.

RODEO

Coyotes bring home hardware

The Weatherford College Coyotes brought home some serious hardware from San Antonio recently, competing at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s South Texas Collegiate Classic:

Shane Scott, first in bull riding.

Jerryn Ellerd and Bridger Ketcham, first in team roping.

Mitchie Story, first in saddle bronc.

Emma Nelson, first in breakaway roping.

Jake Shelton, second in steer wrestling.

The men’s team placed third overall and the women’s team placed fourth overall.

SOCCER

Lady Roos secure second

The Weatherford Lady Roos (16-2-2 overall) locked up second place in District 3-6A with a dominant 6-0 win over Boswell on Mar. 6, improving to 8-2-1 in the league. Mansfield Lake Ridge has clinched the district title with an 11-0 record. 

Goals: Landree Cooper 2, Addy McElhaney, Stella Adams, Mia Saldivar.

Quinn Kahlden recorded the shutout in goal.

The state playoffs begin Mar. 19-21.

TENNIS

Bristow second in state

Mattingly Bristow of Weatherford placed second in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association State Wheelchair Tournament in Waco.

Weatherford results at Chisholm Trail

Landrey Hebb/Lydia Nader, second in girls doubles.

Asa Wilson/Landry Precure, boys doubles consolation winners.

TRACK AND FIELD

School record for Gilbert

At the Hoot Smith Relays in Hurst, Braelee Gilbert etched her name into the Weatherford record books. She had a discus throw of 125 feet, 8 inches to take first place.
