It takes about three rolls of the installation-ready turf to make one trip down the field with fork lifts carrying the rolls, workers pulling it tight with hand held turf stretchers, and sand bags holding down seams after they are glued. It took days of tractor work to level and prepare the ground with gravel for drainage and smoothness and one day to lay the field.
Donald Davis, vice president of Paragon Sports Constructors headquartered in Fort Worth, said his company is busy during summer vacation installing surfaces for stadiums, tennis courts, softball and baseball fields and pickleball courts.
“We have eight to ten crews running around Texas right now hitting it hard,” Davis said. “We also do the rubber track surfaces and all kinds of sports turfs.”
