Continuing a tradition of strong track seasons, several members of the Aledo Bearcats and Ladycats are among the state leaders in their respective events.

Leading the Aledo contingent is pole vaulter Sean Gribble. His vault of 16 feet, 8 inches is not only the best in Class 5A, it leads the state in all classifications. Gribble accomplished his feat at the Aledo’s own Bearcat Relays on March 9.

In Class 5A, Ladycat Lauren St. Peters has the top throw in the shot put of 43 feet, 7.5 inches accomplished at the Bearcat Relays, which is also sixth among all classes. She is also sixth in the discus in 5A, having hurled 134-06 at the Northwest Texan Invitational on March 3.

Taylor Hindman has the highest pole vault among girls in Class 5A. She cleared 12-1 at the Haltom Hays Relays on Feb. 23. She is tied for ninth in the state among all classifications.

Brad Campbell ranks fourth in Class 5A in boys pole vault with a clearance of 14-09 at the Bearcat Relays. Vincent Luffey’s time of one minute, 55.74 seconds in the 800-meter run at the Bearcat Relays has him ranked seventh among 5A boys, while Sofia Brandenburg’s clocking of 2:16.21 in the same event at the Bearcat Relays has her eighth among 5A girls.

The Bearcats and Ladycats are back in competition Friday, March 24 in Joshua.
