The Aledo Racquet Cats are used to winning district championships and advancing to regional competition.
In the fall they do this regularly in team tennis. In the spring, when the focus is more on individual play, they consistently send players to regional competition.
Given the returning talent among both the girls and boys, there is plenty of reason for optimism again in 2024-25. They return nine girls and six boys from last season.
Back for the girls are Elli Kate Bussmeir, Sydney Byrd, McKinley Hayes, Gracie Heydman, Eleanor Jack, Patrice Loftin, Natalie Nawrocki, Bryanna Orr and Lila Satterfield. Seniors are Bussmeir, Heydman, Jack, Loftin and Orr.
Satterfield qualified for spring regionals with the now-graduated Kenley Germany. Bussmeier, likewise, qualified for regionals in mixed doubles with Scott Mason, who graduated. Orr qualified in singles.
Returning boys include Francois Britz, Casen Freeland, Jacob Heckathorn, Ben Kurth, Paxton Psencik and Tom Ruminsky. Britz and Heckathorn are seniors.
Heckathorn and Loftin qualified for regionals in mixed doubles.
