To say the Aledo Racquet Cats tennis team was dominant in winning District 5-5A would be like saying bacon is the best breakfast — or any other meal — food there is.
There is simply no beating bacon and there was simply no matching the Racquet Cats as they steamrolled through the league with a 6-0 record. They wrapped up district play with an 18-1 win at Saginaw Chisholm Trail on Sept. 30, improving to 16-2 overall on the season.
Aledo was playing Denton in bi-district on the Haslet Eaton High School courts at press time.
So dominant in district were the Racquet Cats that they won 108 of the 114 singles and doubles matches played against their opponents. Twice they won 19-0, twice by 18-1, and twice by 17-2.
This district championship is the fourth straight for the Racquet Cats, who have been playoff regulars for many years under coach Joe McCoy.
