Racquet Cats compete in Mansfield

With the District 5-5A Tournament lying in wait, the Aledo Racquet Cats warmed up by competing in the always tough Kowbell Classic in Mansfield on April 11. They posted a pair of third place finishes and a fourth place.

Leading the Aledo contingent was Lila Satterfield. She finished third in girls A singles, winning three of her four matches. In that same division, McKinley Hayes split her two matches.

In boys A doubles, the duo of Jacob Heckathorn and Francois captured the consolation trophy with a 3-1 record in the tournament.

Also, the mixed doubles B tandem of Paxton Psencik and Kieren Christensen went 2-2 and finished fourth.

Also for Aledo, Alex Vozeh was 2-1 in boys A singles, Natalie Nawrocki and Sydney Byrd were 2-1 in girls doubles.

The Racquet Cats were playing in their final pre-district tournament at Northwest at press time. The District 5-5A Tournament is April 22-23 at the Richland Tennis Center in North Richland Hills.

 

Junior varsity

The JV Racquet Cats won three divisions at the Kowbell Classic JV tournament on April 8. Alli Munoz and Addie Cass each posted 3-0 records to win girls singles A and B, respectively.

The team of Bailey Martin and Vivian Beeby were a perfect 4-0 en route to the girls A doubles championship. Elizabeth Kerht and Parker Shiro were second with a 2-1 record.

Also placing second were Ryan Gilliland and EJ Everett in mixed doubles, finishing with a 3-1 record.

Fourth place finishes were posted by Vassar Rekerdes and Blake Mitchell in boys A doubles (2-2), Brody Plumbley and Wesley Clarke in boys B doubles (2-2), and Liam Mitchell in boys B singles (2-2).

In boys A doubles, Christian Carver was 2-2.

The JV District 5-5A Tournament is also at the Richland Tennis Center on April 28.
