Peach Festival recognized as Best in Texas

Annual event set for July 11

Posted

Every year on the second Saturday in July you can always count on things being absolutely peachy in downtown Weatherford.

For a 41st year, held annually — with the exception of 2020, thanks to the COVID pandemic — the event brings visitors from near and far to the Weatherford square and surrounding area. They enjoy a plethora of peach-themed goodies and activities — including good ol’ Parker County peaches, a one-of-a-kind treat.

And recently the Parker County Peach Festival was recognized by the Texas Festivals & Events Association as the “Best in Texas” Overall Festival, noted Weatherford Chamber of Commerce President Tammy Gazzola.

Gazzola said the honor “reflects the dedication of our volunteers, sponsors, vendors, growers, nonprofit partners, and community members who help make this event special year after year.”

This year’s Festival will be held from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m on July 11.

“Being recognized as the Texas Festivals & Events Association’s Best in Texas Overall Festival is an incredible honor, but what makes me most proud is seeing our community come together,” Gazzola said. “More than 15 local nonprofit organizations participate in the festival, and it takes hundreds of volunteers to bring it to life each year.”

Activities

Peach Week will have peach specials all week long throughout the community, including:

  • Fresh Parker County peach sales from local growers.
  • More than 250 arts, crafts, food, and specialty vendors.
  • Two stages featuring live entertainment throughout the day.
  • Children’s activities and family-friendly attractions.
  • Peach-themed foods, including peach cobbler, peach ice cream, peach pie, peach tea, smoothies, jams, and more.
  • The Peach Pedal Bike Ride.
  • The 42 Domino Tournament.
  • Art and food competitions.
  • Shopping and dining throughout Historic Downtown Weatherford.

A complete schedule of activities, entertainment, and competition times can be found at www.peachfestivaltx.com, where tickets can also be purchased. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and children under 5 are free.

“The Parker County Peach Festival is so much more than a one-day event,” Gazzola said. “It’s a celebration of the people, traditions, and community spirit that make Parker County special.”

Come from all over

Each year, the Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors from across Texas and beyond. For many travelers, it has become an annual tradition and destination event.

Visitors are drawn by the opportunity to enjoy authentic Parker County peaches, experience Texas’ Best Overall Festival, enjoy live entertainment, shop unique vendors, and spend the day in the charming atmosphere of Historic Downtown Weatherford. For local families, it is a celebration of community pride, heritage, and a chance to share one of Parker County’s most treasured traditions with friends and visitors.

It helps that the Festival is a family-friendly event that offers something for everyone, Gazzola added. Many families have attended for generations, making it one of their favorite annual traditions.

“Whether you’re a first-time visitor or someone who has attended for generations, there’s something truly special about spending a summer day in downtown Weatherford celebrating our peach heritage,” Gazzola said.

Parking/shuttle

Convenient remote parking locations are available throughout Weatherford, with free shuttle service transporting guests to and from the festival grounds throughout the day. Parking locations and shuttle information are posted on the festival website and social media channels.
