Posted

Amy Borders, Director of Communications and Marketing for the City of Weatherford, announced that the Weatherford Police Department (WPD) swore in two new officers on Feb. 22.

Borders’ announcement came at the Feb. 27 meeting of the Weatherford City Council.

Officers Trace Camp and Antonio Camacho were sworn in to the WPD after transferring from the Weatherford Lateral Program. Both men are bringing to the department three and a half years of experience as officers.

According to the Weatherford Police Department Facebook page, “Being able to hire officers with experience adds depth to our force and allows these new-to-us officers to be integrated into our family quicker than having to start from scratch.”

Borders also announced the LOVE Weatherford April Clean-Up Event. The event is a massive spring cleaning happening the entire month of April. LOVE Weatherford is hosting and is encouraging other local organizations to sign up.

From sports teams, churches, business and scout groups, everyone is encouraged to help clean up within the city limits. Each organization can pick their date and time to pick up trash. LOVE Weatherford will supply each group with proper cleaning tools.

LOVE Weatherford is a non-profit charity organization located in Weatherford. For more information on the event, visit LoveWeatherford.org.

Other events announced at the city council meeting were Historic Hustle 5K on March 9, Second Saturday Downtown Market on March 9 on York Avenue, and Spring Fling at Chandor Gardens on March 16.
