Mourer posted two more shutouts this past week as the Ladycats (8-6-2 overall, 5-0-2 in district) fought to a 0-0 tie at Azle (10-7-3, 4-1-2) on Feb. 17 and won 6-0 at Brewer (7-9-1, 3-4) on Feb. 20 as Jordan Wright had a night of nights offensively.
Mourer took over the starting goalkeeper position in the district opener on Jan. 31 after it was learned the two regular goalkeepers had to have hand surgery. Mourer regularly plays in the field.
She has responded with five straight shutouts. In all, the Ladycats have outscored their league opponents 22-3 with her in goal.
“Haley is doing a fantastic job as a keeper. She has taken on a role we never thought would have to happen,” Ladycats coach Taylor May said. “She is selfless in her commitment to her team and wants to help in any way necessary.”
In the win over Brewer Wright had a hat trick plus one, scoring four goals. Abigail Cates and Ally Weimer each had a goal and two assists, and Addison Clarke delivered two assists.
The Ladycats were off Tuesday and will play host to Chisholm Trail (4-13-2, 1-6) on Friday, Feb. 27. Next week they travel to Fossil Ridge (10-5-1, 4-3) on March 3 and host Saginaw (2-10, 0-6) on March 6, all at 7:15 p.m.
A sweep of the three matches will clinch a playoff berth for Aledo.
