Mayor encourages smart water use

Posted

Annetta Mayor Sandy Roberts is reminding her local constituents to be smart in the use of water, especially during the current heat wave.

“We all expect to turn on our faucet and have clear, clean drinking water for our families,” Roberts said. “We ask that you conserve water by limiting your outside water usage. Overwatering can stress plants and foundations so pay attention to your surroundings and give them just the amount they need.”

Roberts said this is also a great time to repair any water leaks residents might have.

“Even a small leak can be thousands of gallons each month,” Roberts said. “We are 100% dependent upon ground water. We can only pump so much water from the ground, properly treat it, and store it before the water gets distributed to your homes.  These systems are not designed to have an endless supply.

“Also, please be considerate of grass and structure fires that take tens of thousands of gallons of water to fight.  When the tanks get low, pressures and volumes drop considerably and that puts us all at risk.”

If you need to use an excessive amount of water for outside use, contact Town Hall at 817-441-5770 or email info@annettatx.gov.
