The Texas Sports Writers Association recently named its all-state baseball teams, and Aledo and Weatherford had some athletes and coaches who earned some more post season awards.
With the Bearcats winning their second straight Class 5A Division I state title, several players were honored.
Coach Chad Barry was named the 5A Coach of the Year after leading Aledo to a 39-3 record and earning his and the program’s third state championship.
Graduating player Lucas Nawrocki, who was named the 5A player of the year, was also named to the first team as a first baseman. He signed with Louisiana State University to play baseball.
On the second team, graduating player Landon Barnes earned honors at second base. He is staying local, signing with Weatherford College to play baseball.
Another Bearcat, graduating third basemen Dylan Duran, was named to the honorable mention team. Duran signed with San Jacinto College in Houston to play baseball.
Also earning honorable mention from Aledo were graduating player Wilson Sehnem and incoming senior Luke Gladchuk, both outfielders. Sehnem is signed to play baseball at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Gladchuk is committed to play baseball at the University of Texas in Austin.
Despite missing the playoffs, the Roos had a couple of players named to the 6A all-state team. Graduating catcher Jett Vindiola was named to the honorable mention team. Vindiola is signed to play baseball at Kansas State University.
Also named to the 6A honorable mention team as an outfielder was incoming senior Logan Chaix.
