Lewisville quarterback transfers to Aledo

Tre Williams is expected to compete for the starting job

With spring practice under way for Aledo football, news got out that former Lewisville quarterback Tre Williams has transferred to Aledo.

With Lincoln Tubbs graduating and with news in March that potential replacement Nash McElree was transferring to a school in California, many were wondering who would be the signal caller for the Bearcats’ first season in 6A next year.

It could be Williams, who is coming off a great junior year leading the Lewisville Farmers to an 8-3 record last year. He threw for 2,536 yards and 29 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes. Unlike Tubbs, who used his feet as well as his arm, Williams is seen more as a pocket passer.

Aledo Coach Robby Jones had complements for Williams for what he has shown in practice so far.

“Tre has been very accurate this spring and is able to fit balls into tight spots,” Jones said.

There are still many months and practices before the first game of the season on August.
