Parker County has announced that Jason Lane is the county’s new emergency management coordinator.
Lane previously served as the deputy emergency management coordinator for the City of Frisco. He was responsible for the city’s emergency management program, he managed homeland security grants, and handled deployment reimbursement for Hurricane Harvey, California wildfires, and other disasters.
Lane also managed Frisco’s emergency operation center during ice storms, severe weather, COVID-19, the Senior PGA Championship, NCAA championship football games, Major League Soccer games, Jimmy Buffet concerts, and the Academy of Country Music Awards
Prior to his work in Frisco, Lane served as the assistant emergency management coordinator for Collin County. His duties included maintaining the county’s emergency management plan and coordinating the county’s response to disasters and emergencies. In addition, he supervised the courthouse security staff at county facilities, and was responsible for increasing emergency management, critical infrastructure, and public health participation and data-sharing in North Texas through the North Central Texas Fusion Center.
Lane also served as the Collin County bioterrorism coordinator and was an environmental investigator for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
In his new role for Parker County, Lane provides supervisory management of the Parker County Emergency Management/Homeland Security Programs. He is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation plans and activities and the overall emergency management program for the Parker County Office of Emergency Management.
Lane holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioenvironmental Science from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Administration and Planning from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in Justice Administration and Leadership. He has completed training in hazardous materials safety, environmental remediation, critical infrastructure protection, biological and chemical warfare and terrorism, sports and special event management, and radiological emergency preparedness.
