Ladycats win Haltom Relays

Competing for the first time in all events this season, the Aledo Ladycats dominated competition at the Haltom Hays Relays on Thursday, Feb. 23.

The Ladycats scored 193 points to easily outdistance runner-up Euless Trinity with 110.

“Great day for the Aledo Ladycat track team!” said an excited coach Mike Pinkerton, adding, “Even in the cold wind, kids are really competing well. The best news, we are only going to get better. Tough meet this week, and once again much cooler on Friday.”

The Ladycats won eight gold medals, seven silver and two bronze en route to the title. Emery Thompson, Sofia Brandenburg, and Sarah Tillotson led with two gold medals each.

The Ladycats were coming off a second-place finish at the Kangaroo Relays on Feb. 16. However, they did not field a full contingent in all events.

The Ladycats and Bearcats are competing at Northwest Friday, March 3 before hosting the Bearcat relays Thursday, March 9.

The weather forecast at press time for Friday called for a high of 55 degrees with a 70% chance of thunderstorms.
