Against Azle, all three teams won for another program sweep. Along with the varsity result, the JV notched a 75-36 victory while the freshman team emerged victorious by a final score of 50-10. Sunny Rosado’s 28 points led the JV squad while AJ Robinson had a game-high 14 points for the freshman team.
Star senior guard Elizabeth Griffin led the varsity with 21 points while three other Ladycats reached double-figure scoring. Brooklyn Dempsey netted 16 points, Tiara Butler added 13 and Sawyer Voight finished the night with 10. Kennedy Cardenas and Sarah Edwards scored four points apiece while Jaylee Owens and Katelyn Lowe each recorded two points. Statistics for the 79-20 win over Brewer were not yet reported before press time. After losing twice to Brewer last year by seven combined points in two games, the Ladycats exacted their revenge in a big way against the Lady Bears this season, winning both games by a combined total of 146-40.
The Ladycats (19-7, 7-0) have won their seven district games by an impressive average margin of 37 points per game. Aledo stands alone atop of District 5-5A Region I, 2.5 games clear of both Azle and Chisholm Trail, who are tied with 4-2 district records. The Ladycats will take the court again at 6:30 p.m. Friday at home against Chisholm Trail.
