Posted

As they begin defense of their District 5-5A championship, the Aledo Ladycats led play in the Girls District Preview at Sugar Tree Golf Course in Dennis on March 27.

The Ladycats Black team won the championship, shooting a 373, with Granbury Purple second at 392. The Ladycats Orange squad placed third with a 403.

Individually, Aledo’s Kyla Morales of the Black team took top medalist honors by shooting an 88. Akiyah Ditto of Granbury Purple was a stroke behind in second, and Emily Crick of Aledo Black and Claire Jordan of Granbury Purple tied for third with 91 each.

Also in the top 10 for Aledo were Harper Price, Orange, 95, fifth; Reagan Gilliland and Karlee Shaw, Black, 97 each, tied for sixth; Abby Gray, Orange, 99, eighth; and Kennedi Parker, Black, and Kylie Kirland, each 102, tied for ninth.

The tournament is designed to give teams a last bit of pre-district competition and to give them a glimpse of each other before the district tournament, which was being played at Sugar Tree at press time on April 4-5.

The Ladycats have qualified as a team for the Class 5A State Tournament each of the past two seasons.
