Posted

The Aledo Ladycats softball team kept on marauding through district, putting up double-digit run totals against Chisholm Trail on April 2 and Fossil Ridge on April 7.

The Ladycats beat the Lady Rangers 22-1 in only three innings due to run-rule and beat the Lady Panthers 11-3.

Aledo was expecting to have a big game at home after beating Chisholm Trail by run-rule in only three innings the first time the teams played.

The Lady Rangers actually struck first, hitting two singles along with an error in the field, that allowed Chisholm Trail to briefly take the lead 1-0, but it did not last long once the Ladycats came up to bat.

Kyleigh Pawlak hit an RBI triple. She later scored on a wild pitch. Later, Kayleigh Martin drove in a run with a single. Brylee Gray followed with an RBI double and Breleigh Mayer then hit a two RBI double.

Back at the start of the lineup but still in the first inning, Delaney Rosser and Tempe Perry hit RBI doubles. Pawlak hit a sacrifice fly ball that drove in one run. Martin and Gray later hit RBI singles before Mayers cleared the bases with a three home run shot over the left field wall.

Aledo led 15-1 after the first inning.

Even with Coach Heather Myers clearing her bench to get them playing time, the Ladycats could not stop scoring.

With the bases loaded, Rylee Marx was hit by a pitch to score one run. Brooklynn Taloa hit a fly ball that resulted in an error that scored another run. Kennedy Carenas followed with a two-RBI double. A few batters later, Jordyn Edington hit a two RBI double. Later on the base paths Mayer scored to put Aledo up 22-1. The Ladycats held on in the third inning to end the game early.

Mayer led the team with five RBIs while hitting a home run and a double. Six different players finished with two RBIs despite some playing only one inning. The team finished with 14 hits, with nine being extra base hits, to go with six walks and four hit batters.

Marx pitched three innings and allowed one run, zero earned runs, on two hits while striking out eight and walking two.

Fossil Ridge

Aledo knew Fossil Ridge would be a bit better. The Ladycats got one run on the board in the first inning. Rosser drew a lead off walk, was worked around to third base before coming home on a wild pitch.

Aledo added to its lead in the second inning. Gray hit an RBI double. Later Edington grounded out, but not before driving in a run. Rosser followed by hitting a two-run home run over the left field fence. Later in the inning, Taloa hit a single put the middle. An error allowed two runs to come in and and score as the Ladycats led 7-0.

In the third inning, Rosser hit an RBI single. Perry followed with a fly ball to left field that resulted in an error that allowed another run to score as Aledo led 9-0.

The Lady Panthers showed some life offensively, hitting an RBI double to make the score 9-1 heading into the fourth inning.

The Ladycats got the run back as Gray hit an RBI single to improve the lead to 10-1. Unfortunately, Fossil Ridge scored two runs, one on an error trying to throw a base runner out at second base and another on an inside the park home run. The Lady Panthers cut the lead to 10-3.

After a scoreless fifth inning from both teams, Aledo scored in the sixth inning with some help. Mayer hit a single into right field, but an error trying to corral the hit allowed Mayer to come all the way home. The Ladycats led 11-3 and held on to win the game by that score after seven innings.

Rosser led the team with three RBIs and a home run. Bray was second with two RBIs and hit a double. As a team, Aledo finished with 12 hits and four walks.

On the mound, Perry pitched all seven inning allowed three runs on six hits while striking out six and walking three.
