Bi-district tentatively set for Oct. 31

After a brief hiatus from the court last Friday, Aledo’s Ladycat volleyball team returned to action at Brewer on Tuesday defeating the Lady Bears by scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-22 to take the match in straight sets.

With the win, the Ladycats improved their overall record on the season to 27-15.  They will host Azle on Friday before wrapping up the 2022 regular season on the road in Granbury on Tuesday. Aledo’s 8-2 record in district play has them sitting securely in second place in the 5A Region I District 5 standings behind the only team to blemish the Ladycats’ district record this season, the Northwest Lady Texans.

As of now, Aledo is tentatively slated to begin bi-district play on Oct. 31 in match six at Lubbock Coronado High School. More information will follow in future editions of The Community News as it becomes available.

The Ladycats defeated Brewer handily when they hosted the Lady Bears back in September. Things did not fare much different on Tuesday when the Lady Bears played host for the evening.

Vivian Parker led the charge for Aledo as she recorded 12 kills, 11 digs, a trio of blocks at the net, and a pair of aces.

Alyssa Gonzales usually wears number 12, but 10 ended up being her lucky number on the night as she finished the match with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Maddie Frank accumulated nine kills on the night. Defensively she also contributed three blocks, as well.

Lauryn Mack topped the Ladycats in digs for the night with 12 to her credit.  Skyler Lambert picked up five blocks as she led the defensive charge at the net for Aledo.  Rylee Metts collected 24 assists to lead the Ladycats in that statistical category for the evening.

Aledo’s district matchup against Azle’s visiting Lady Hornets is slated for a 5:30 start at the Aledo High School Gymnasium.
