Lady Eagles aim for resurgent volleyball season

Off to solid start

Posted

The Trinity Christian Academy Lady Eagles volleyball team is aiming to build on the positive trajectory of the program from last year and are making quality strides towards continued success.

The volleyball program returns five seniors and second-year head coach, Katherine Mullen, to the fray after putting together a 17-15 overall record with a 5-7 mark in TAPPS district play last season. These win totals were both improvements from the 2022 season with a four-win improvement in the district win column from 2022 to 2023.

Leading returning players for the Lady Eagles include middle blocker Micah Breisch, a 2023 second-team all-district selection; libero JulieAnne Hart, a 2023 honorable mention all-district selection; outside hitter Addison Shoppach, another honorable mention all-district pick; outside hitter Emily Ickert, who is returning from injury a season ago; setter and defensive specialist Rylie Reeder; setter and right side hitter Anna Nelson and right side hitter Taylor Gilliam.

Trinity is already off to a solid start to the 2024 season and is aiming for lofty goals.

“The 2024 team has already achieved success at the Fort Worth Christian PIT Tournament as Silver Bracket champions,” assistant coach Chris Dorrell said.

Their early season success also included wins over public schools Lancaster and Dallas South Oak Cliff in the Pantego Christian Tournament.

The Lady Eagles are looking to finish near the top of the district standings and are vying to snap a five-year playoff drought if they clinch this season. If the drought ends, Trinity looks to relish the opportunity and is optimistic about making a deep run.
