A new fire station to serve Hudson Oaks and assist greater East Parker County has been planned for a while, and July 24 Parker County Emergency Services District #3 broke ground for it on property provided by the City of Hudson Oaks. The new facility will be directly north of City Hall on the northeast corner of Hudson Oaks Dr. and Inspiration Dr.
RGPA Design Group has commercial, residential, and civic projects in North Texas, and the company designs buildings to match the characteristics of the communities. Plans for the Hudson Oaks building bypassed glass-and-steel modernism and instead will sport a stone facade with a Southwestern-style arch main entrance. It will be one year from groundbreaking to grand opening.
Donna Lambert, the ESD#3 administrative assistant for 16 years, said plans to build a new fire station go back to when the police and fire department began sharing the Hudson Oaks Public Safety building at 150 N. Oakridge Dr. in 2008.
“We are not in any way the City of Hudson Oaks, we are part of Parker County,” Lambert explained. “However, we work closely with the city, especially with the police department, and they are great to work with. That arrangement has been really good and it has evolved really well.”
Hudson Oaks city administrator Sterling Naron said the Hudson Oaks Police Department will remain at the current location under the Hudson Oaks water tower and expand into the rest of the building when the fire department moves.
ESD#3 and Hudson Oaks officials were joined by leadership from other cities, police, firefighters, and citizens for the groundbreaking ceremony, and ground equipment is waiting to start making the new building a reality.
