Led by wide receiver Kaydon Finley and defensive lineman Cooper Cyphers, both seniors, the Aledo Bearcats had six players honored by the Texas Sports Writers Association on their Class 5A All-State Football Team.

Finley and Cyphers were named to the first team at wide receiver and defensive lineman.

Finley, a Notre Dame commit, is arguably the most prolific wide receiver ever to come through the Aledo program. As a senior he caught 75 passes for 1,483 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Finley ended his Bearcats career with 221 catches for 3,931 yards and 54 touchdowns. During his four varsity seasons Aledo was 56-5 with state championships in 2022 and 2023.

Cyphers posted 64.5 tackles, including 40 solo in the 2025 season. This includes 10.5 sacks and 22 tackles for a loss. He also forced a fumble and 36 quarterback hurries.

Named to the third team was senior linebacker Chase Wilburn. His 99 tackles included 72 solo takedowns, along with 15 tackles for a loss, and a pair of sacks. In addition, he had 11 QB hurries and four pass breakups.

Three players received honorable mention. On offense they were senior tackle Payton Williams and senior quarterback Lincoln Tubbs (119 carries for 937 yards and 11 TD rushing, 71% passes completed for 2,061 yards with 24 TD, and four interceptions).

Honorable mention defensive honors went to junior lineman Tymon Meeks with 59.5 tackles (34 solo), 5.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and two pass breakups.

The Bearcats were the No. 1 team in the state all of 2025 before their season ended with a stunning 56-52 loss to Frisco Lone Star in the Class 5A Division I semifinals. Lone Star overcame a 17-point deficit in the final minutes.

Aledo is moving up to Class 6A for the 2026 season. They will compete in District 3-6A with Weatherford, Granbury, Arlington High, Arlington Martin, Arlington Bowie, Arlington Sam Houston, and Arlington Lamar.

The Brock Eagles had five players honored by the TSWA on the Class 4A All-State squad. They were led by second-team picks guard Colt Matlock and defensive lineman Brett Cannon, both seniors.

Honorable mention accolades went to quarterback Holt Frazier, running back Bryer McDonald, and linebacker Hayden Waller, all juniors.

The Eagles finished 14-1 and advanced to the Class 4A Division II semifinals before falling 49-21 to eventual state champion Carthage.
