Freedom House holds well-attended Garden Safari

Posted

Freedom House of Parker County held its annual Garden Safari fundraiser at The Brooks at Weatherford on Sept. 12, anchored by a moving message from former NFL cornerback Chris Johnson.

Johnson, a resident of Aledo, emotionally described the death of his sister at the hands of a former boyfriend. His mother was also shot in the incident.

The message was especially appropriate due to the mission of Freedom House, which provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Freedom House services include emergency shelter, counseling, therapy, legal counseling, and transportation.

The walls of The Brooks were lined with silent auction items, and the evening ended with a spirited live auction under the direction of auctioneer Ross Bandy.
