Families delighted in the All About Animals and Art “Messtival” Friday programs held at the Aledo Community Center. In addition to the Friday events, kids of all ages can enjoy a traditional story time on Wednesdays in the library with guest speakers (look for your principal to read!), as well as open play periods and weekly take and make crafts.
For the adults, the library is continuing its Mahjong programming for intermediate players, with beginner classes starting again soon. Adults also enjoy the Common Threads program, puzzle exchange days, book club, and a recent Photography and Flowers workshop with Christina from Two Sisters Teahouse. In addition to teen time programs, families can also participate in monthly game nights, makerspace sessions and Dungeons and Dragons days.
The library has many more events coming up for the rest of June and July, including the Perot Tech Truck and our Fire Station Finale with shaved ice!
But don’t forget the reading! When you sign up for the library’s summer reading program, you can log your hours (up to 50) to win prizes (sweet treats from Funky Munky and Melt; stickers, books, and brag tags), as well as raffle tickets to take a chance on the bigger end-of-summer prizes. The raffle ticket prizes include an iPad, Legos, art crafts and games, Squishmallows, and gift certificates to many local establishments. Many of these gift certificates were donated and all our donors will be recognized as the summer continues. The new Friends of the Aledo Library donated many of the raffle prizes. The last day to turn in your reading log is July 31st!
Stop by the Aledo Public Library to grab a calendar or follow them on Facebook to explore all of the exciting events happening this summer. See you at the library!
