Deadline to register to vote is Feb. 5

Early voting for March 5 primary begins on Feb. 20

Posted

The March 5 Republican and Democratic Primaries are rapidly approaching, but there is still time to register to vote if you have not done so.

Monday, Feb. 5, is the last day to register to vote for the primary election.  The application must be postmarked Feb. 5, 2024 or earlier in order for the application to be considered on time. Early voting begins Feb. 20.

To register

To register, visit the Texas Secretary of State’s website at: https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/languageChange.do

At the website a printable voter registration form can be downloaded to be filled out and signed. The form can be taken in person or mailed to the Parker County Elections Office, 1112 Santa Fe Drive in Weatherford. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The last day to request a ballot by mail is Feb. 23. The request must be received by that date at the elections office.

Sample Ballots

Sample ballots for all of the voting precincts are available the elections office or on their website at: https://www.parkercountytx.com/477/Sample-Ballots.

The Democrats’ ballot is relatively short, with only 13 races, including uncontested ones.

The Republican ballot, however, is much longer, with as many as 31 candidates and 13 propositions. Because the voting machines only show one contest per page, the republican ballot can be as long as 44 pages on the voting machine.

Voters are allowed to bring sample ballots with them to the voting locations, but they cannot share the sample ballots with other voters, nor leave the sample ballot at the polling location.

The Community News will provide local sample ballots and a list with times and locations of early voting closer to the beginning of early voting.
