Cross country: Aledo program enjoys solid week

Ladycats sixth at elite OSU meet

Posted

Paced by Molly Garrison’s fourth-place individual finish, the Aledo Ladycats placed sixth as a team at one of the nation’s most elite cross country meets, the Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State University on Friday, Sept. 26 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The Bearcats finished 13th in the boys’ field. Both the boys and girls were competing in the elite division, the highest level. The meet was held at the Greiner Family Course, which Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton noted is one of the top three in the nation.

“It is an unbelievably beautiful course, but extremely challenging at the same time,” Pinkerton said. “Once again, our runners performed tremendously well.”

The Bearcats were competing without two of their top runners, Pinkerton said.

Also last week, the Aledo junior varsity teams competed at the Decatur Invitation on Sept. 25. The girls and boys both finished ninth competing in the varsity division.

“There was great competition and all of our runners performed well. The course, however, was a little short,” Pinkerton said.

Aledo is not competing this week as they prepare to defend their District 5-5A championships on Oct. 10 at Central Park in White Settlement.
