The Council’s recruitment process spanned several months and included multiple rounds of evaluation. Four finalists advanced to a public meet and greet on Oct. 23, giving residents an opportunity to learn about each candidate and offer feedback before the Council made its final decision.
Edmondson most recently served as city manager of Richland Hills, where she managed a 28 million dollar budget and advanced infrastructure and quality of life priorities while maintaining long-term financial stability. She secured millions of dollars in competitive grants and led catalyst projects that strengthened community identity, revitalized public spaces, and attracted new investment.
Before joining Richland Hills, Edmondson served as deputy director of community services for the City of Southlake. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas and is active in the International City/County Management Association, Texas City Management Association, North Texas City Management Association, National Recreation and Park Association and the Texas Recreation and Park Society.
Mayor Shane Davis praised the appointment, emphasizing the city’s enthusiasm for Edmondson’s leadership. “We are excited and confident that Candice will lead our city with integrity and deliver the community vision as directed by the city council. Now it’s time to go to work. We have many projects coming up, none more important than our Comprehensive Plan, Parks Master Plan, and Thoroughfare Plan.”
Edmondson will succeed Interim City Manager Mark McDaniel, who will continue serving in the role until her arrival in early January. A community welcome event will be held as part of the grand opening of the new City Hall.
As she looks ahead to joining Aledo, Edmondson noted, “I am honored to join the City of Aledo and look forward to partnering with the Mayor, City Council and staff to serve this exceptional community. Aledo’s strong values and spirit of connection truly resonate with me, and I am eager to build upon the city’s solid foundation as we pursue thoughtful growth and continue providing exceptional service to our residents.”
