Posted
The first-ever Taste of Texas Food Truck Championship is making a pit stop Sept. 12 in Aledo.

Beginning at 11 a.m., cooks will compete for “a championship belt, cash prizes, and the right to call themselves the best truck in the state,” according to the Texas Food Truck Tour website.

The community can gather at the Aledo Community Park, 200 Old Annetta Road, in support of more than 30 food trucks. Some of the participating food trucks have been made public, including Big Bend Brisket Co., La Doña Tacos, Smokestack 79, Coastal Bend Boil, Pecan Street Pies, Holy Smokes Wings, Cowtown Burger Garage, Mariachi Mariscos, and Panhandle Frito Pie. The rest of the participants will be announced during event week.

It will be a day filled with good food and live music. According to the website, doors open at noon. Heat 1 begins with the BBQ bracket, then at 4:30 p.m., Heat 2 Tex-Mex and street tacos take their turn on the chopping block.

At 6:30 p.m., live music from The DriftWoods kicks off, before the crowing of the food truck champion at 8:30 p.m. The night comes to a close with a 10 p.m. last call for food and beverages before the trucks roll out at 11 p.m.

“You eat. You vote. You dance. Bring an appetite — and stretchy pants,” the website reports.
