The Parker County Health Foundation annual Boots & Bling celebration was the largest yet, taking up the entire River Ranch Stockyards event facility.
Funds from the event benefit area health organizations, such as Children's Advocacy Center, Center of Hope, Careity Foundation, Freedom House, Manna Storehouse, the Committee on Aging, Meals on Wheels and Grace House Ministries.
Event coordinator Penny Shelton said it will be a few weeks before the organization calculates the total money the event brought in with table sales, auction items and donations.
“Attendance was great,” she said. “We actually sold out a couple of weeks ago and had a wait list. But as you could tell, we couldn’t fit more people in that room comfortably.”
Recording artist Josh Weathers performed selections from his albums Wild Ones and Love Like You Mean It, along with a few revved up “Weatherized” popular cover tunes.
The Josh Weathers Band’s next public performance will be March 23 at Billy Bob’s Texas. Weathers’ music can be heard on popular music streaming apps and his own Youtube channel.
Some auctions items included a one-hour ground flight lesson plus 30-minute flight from Nationwide Aviation, a sky box plus meals for four at the Charles Schwab Challenge PGA FedEx Cup event at Colonial Country Club, a customized steel fire pit from 13 of Diamonds Fabrications, and a half steer of beef donated by Jim Martin.
Weathers even auctioned a private live concert with himself for up to 50 guests.
