Bearcats run away from field at Haltom

Posted

The Aledo Bearcats remained perfect in regular-season track meets over the past two seasons, easily topping the field in the Haltom Hays Relays on Thursday, Feb. 23. It was the eighth consecutive regular-season meet Aledo has won.

They also won a postseason meet in 2022, capturing an area championship.

“For a windy and cold meet the kids ran great, competed well in the poor conditions,” said first-year coach Andrew Clark.

Hauss Hejny and Aven Lawrence each won three gold medals for Aledo as part of the three winning relays. Vincent Luffey and Evan Thompson won two individual golds.

In all, Aledo captured 10 gold medals, one silver and four bronze.

The Bearcats are competing in the Northwest meet Friday, March 3 before hosting the Bearcat Relays on Thursday, March 9.

“This week will be our toughest invitation meet of the season,” Clark said, noting temperatures with a high in the mid-50s and a 70% chance of rain forecast. “We need to run well and get healthy to keep the streak alive.”
