The Aledo Bearcats ended District 5-5A play with a 2-1 loss at Wichita Falls Rider on Friday, April 29. Despite the loss, their second to the Raiders of the week, Aledo won the district championship with a 10-2 record.
The Bearcats (22-10-1 overall) finished one game ahead of Rider in the final standings. They are playing Fort Worth South Hills in a best-of-3 bidistrict series in Crowley. The first game was Thursday, May 2, with Game 2 Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. A third game, if necessary, will be played at noon Saturday, May 4.
The Scorpions (9-15) are the fourth-place team from District 6-5A.
Prior to beginning the postseason, the Bearcats won a pair of warmup games. They defeated Mansfield Legacy 3-2 at home on Saturday, April 27, followed by a 15-4 win at Mansfield Lake Ridge on Monday, April 29.
