Posted

The Texas Girls Coaches Association will hold its annual clinic in Arlington July 17-18 and several players and a coach from the area are among those participating.

Mike Pinkerton of Aledo is the 5A-6A cross country coach. He will be recognized on July 18 at 8 p.m. at Arlington High School.

Pinkerton coached the Aledo girls and boys to the best overall finish for the program at this past season’s Class 5A State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock. The Ladycats finished third for a second straight season (and second in 2023) and the Bearcats were fourth, their highest finish in team history.

Aledo’s Rylee Marx will play for the 5A-6A Red Team in softball. The game is at 7 p.m. on July 18 at the Workman Softball Complex.

The Ladycats finished second in Class 5A Division I in late May.

Karsyn Evans from Aledo is a member of the 5A-6A Red Team in volleyball. Her game is at 7 p.m. on July 18 at Arlington Martin High School. The Ladycats advanced to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals before bowing out against eventual state champion Highland Park.

In basketball, Brooklyn Dempsey of Aledo is part of the 5A-6A Red Team, while Brock’s Savannah Hatcher and Jacee Riddle are on the 1A-4A Red Team. The 1A-4A game is at 7 p.m. on July 17 and the 5A-6A contest is on July 18 at the same time, both games at Arlington High.

Brock’s Lady Eagles reached the Class 4A Division II state semifinals before being eliminated by eventual state champion Dallas Lincoln. Aledo advanced to the second round of the 5A Division I playoffs.

Admission to events throughout the weekend is $5 with children under the age of five admitted free.
