“We have a full season that we are excited to jump into!” exclaimed TOTS Board Member Clara Moltz.
It begins with a classic, “The Glass Menagerie.” Written by the legendary Tennessee Williams, the production opens on Jan. 30 and runs through Feb. 15.
That’s followed by “Rossum’s Universal Robots” by Karen Capek from March 13-29. It’s about a factory that mass-produces artificial humans, or “robots,” to serve as laborers.
The first musical of the year will be “Next to Normal” April 24-May 10. It features music by Tom Kitt with book and lyrics by Brian Yorker. The Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical is about a suburban family grappling with a mother’s bipolar disorder and the impact of mental illness, grief, and loss on their lives.
The Texas New Works Contest winners will be spotlighted June 5-14. Ericca Turner wrote “On Another Rainy Night” and William Smith wrote “Bench Karma.”
“On Another Rainy Night” is a story about what it’s like to watch a loved one deal with depression and addiction. “Bench Karma” is a comedy about three strangers who meet in a rundown bus station, waiting for a bus that may never come.
The annual children’s show will be performed July 17-26. It is “Honk! Jr.” with music by George Stiles with book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe. The production is a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling,” telling the heartwarming story of a cygnet named Ugly who is different from his siblings.
“Groundhog Day” hits the stage Sept. 4-20, a musical presentation of the popular movie starring Bill Murray in which egotistical and cynical weatherman Phil Connor gets stuck in a loop of his life, replaying the famous day over and over. Music is by Danny Rubin with book and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
The season wraps up with “The Cover of Life,” written by R.T. Robinson. It’s a tale of three young brides in rural Louisiana in 1943 whose husbands are away fighting in World War II. A local news story about their lives under their mother-in-law’s roof attracts the attention of Life magazine, which decides to feature the women on its cover.
In 2025, TOTS introduced game nights and they were a popular addition. So much so that they have expanded the dates for 2026.
Tabletops on the Stage will take place on Feb. 20, June 19, Sept. 25, and Nov. 6. These will start at 7 p.m. and are free to participate in and watch.
All musical tickets are $20, regardless of patron age or performance date.
