The Bearcats found themselves trailing 2-0 at the half and couldn’t stop Americas in the second half as the Trailblazers built a five-goal lead before Aledo was able to get on the board late in the game.
For Aledo, the season ends at 22-3-1 while Americas improved to 22-2-0.
It was the Bearcats’ first loss since Jan. 13 against Centennial.
“They were really good,” Aledo head coach Derek Vierling said. “We were down 2-0 at the half. We changed some stuff up but then they got the third goal. It’s tough.”
This was the final game for Vierling who will be retiring as the Bearcats’ coach.
“I haven’t had a chance (to reflect) but it’s been a hell of a career,” Vierling said.
Aledo began the game with a few chances but couldn’t capitalize.
The Bearcats had an early corner kick but the header went wide left of the net.
After that, Americas took over.
The Trailblazers got on the board with a goal by Mathias Loya off a corner kick with 29 minutes left in the first half.
Americas then began to dominate possession.
Aledo did get a free kick shortly after but couldn’t make anything of the opportunity.
The Trailblazers doubled their advantage with a goal by Oscar Nevarez with 7:35 left.
A shot by Aledo’s Luke Brown nearly made it 2-1 but the ball went over the bar with 1:25 remaining.
It didn’t take Americas long to score its third goal as Daniel Escobar found the back of the net with 38:27 left in the second half.
The Trailblazers made it 4-0 with a second goal by Alexis Martinez with 34:50 left.
Loya scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-0.
The Bearcats’ lone goal came from Harrison Kear with 24:53 left.
A penalty was awarded to Americas and Loya didn’t disappoint, finishing with a hat trick with 7:19 remaining.
“I told the boys that I love them,” Vierling said after the game. “There’s not a whole lot to say after this loss.”
